Ok, so I went home yesterday and tried to figure out why so many of them forgot their agendas! And then it dawned on me! I had told them they could keep them in their desks instead of leaving them out. It was a nice compliment to them because I so rarely have to mark their cards. But, I think it would be better if they leave them on their desks! I think it helps them remember! Even though I promise I do say it too!!! I did not mark any of them who left it on this day. In the future though, that is part of their homework to remember to bring that home.
Wear your 9-11 shirts tomorrow if you bought one! If not, just wear a red shirt!
We are going on the trails tomorrow to finish our novel (it takes place in the woods). They can bring towels and sunglasses so we can find a nice spot to finish our book. It is such a good book! I know they are ready for what is to come!
For reading logs - we have started our first book this week! I went ahead and selected them for them this time. They are all historical fiction books about the Civil War. They have three weeks to complete the novel. They are given time in class to do this. It is there job to get it finished. I will meet with them all each week to make sure they are far enough along in their book. If not, they will need to catch up at home. They are required to answer three reading journal questions, one per week. I will check each week to make sure these are complete. Next time I am going to give them a menu of things to complete and they can choose their own book! It has to be fiction though!
Don't forget Field Trip and 5th grade t-shirt orders are due Friday, the 16th!
