Thank you parents for attending Open House last night. We had a good turn out and if you were not able to attend, I sent the information home with students on Friday. I am looking forward to working with everyone this year in order to make this year successful for your child. One of the main points of our discussion last night was the fact that third graders test for CoGat, ITBS, and CRCT. It is a very critical year for your child. I really enjoy the fact that the other third grade teachers have stream-lined the curriculum in order for students to receive all areas of academia before the CRCT. Everything will be touched on. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I am always here for you.
We have had a great first week of school. The students have been assessed in subtraction and multiplication. We have done a writing sample, sung songs about sentences, rocks and how they are formed, and multiplication rap. I have begun to model some of the routines that students will copy and do for morning work such as Mountain Math and Mountain Language. I have made the students their colored folders and notebooks for Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. Your child will start bringing home their F.R.O.G.S. binder next week (Tuesday or Wednesday). The agenda will be part of that binder. It will come home everyday and be returned in the morning. Homework will come home on Friday and be due the next Friday. Math practice of concepts will come home on Tuesday and Thursday.
I am truly excited about being able to teach your child this year. With your support and encouragement, we can truly make this a successful year. :)
