Boosterthon: Below you will find some information regarding Frey's Boosterthon Fun Run...
| Welcome to The Boosterthon Fun Run! |
|
The Boosterthon Fun Run is more than an elementary school fundraiser. It’s more than a walk-a-thon. The Boosterthon Fun Run is fundraising and so much more! With the Boosterthon Fun Run, the student is the star! Imagine a program that wraps Fitness, Leadership, and Character together in an unforgettable experience tailored for your school’s campus. Your students learn that fitness is fun as they prepare for the day of the Boosterthon Fun Run. Character lessons come to life as Boosterthon Fun Run team members creatively illustrate integrity, honesty, and caring. Students also learn about what it means to be a leader during the nine day experience. Some schools pay thousands of dollars for expensive character education programs. With the Boosterthon Fun Run, it’s just part of what we do. |

Each day the "Boosterthon Guys" (as the children call them) come in our classroom and discuss one of the character education words. The children are so excited each day for the Boosterthon Guys to come visit and talk to them.
As of this morning, only 36 % of our class has logged in to funrun.com. Please take the time to log in and choose a "nick name" for your child and a t-shirt size for the run next week. All pledges, $ per lap or flat donations, must be logged into the computer for your child to receive his or her prizes. Please let me know if you do not have access to the internet and need assistance logging in donations. Currently we are in 27th place in the school for pledges BUT, we did reach our first goal of $10 per lap as a class!!!! If you get out of state pledges, please enter this information because we will be keeping track of all the states in which we receive pledges. (great lesson for our map unit)
The profits made from the Frey Fun Run will help keep our Technology teachers here at Frey. The Boosterthon Fun Run will be held on March 9. The Fun Run for grades K-2 will begin at 11:15 am and end at 12:30 pm. The Fun Run for grades 3-5 will begin at 12:35 pm and end at 1: 50 pm. All family members and friends are welcomed to come cheer on Mrs. Perkins' ROCKET RUNNERS!!! (our team name voted on by the children) I hope to see you then.
ZOO FIELD TRIP
First Grade will be going to Zoo Atlanta on Thursday, March 31st! Permission slips were sent home today, please complete BOTH SIDES and return the form as soon as possible so that we may secure the reservation. The cost of the trip is $15.50 per student, this covers the cost of admission and transportation. We will need parent chaperones for this trip, there is no limit to the number of parents that may attend. Parents will drive separately (you may want to carpool) and younger siblings are also welcome. The cost for parents is $9. Alison Wootton, a parent from Mrs. Chaffins class, will be the First Grade Parent Contact; she will meet everyone just outside the gate to collect the admission fees...then she will pay for the group. Parents will wait just inside the gate at the flamingo habitat for our arrival. We will break into groups and tour the zoo on our own. Each group will have lunch on their own, there are several spots to sit and eat. Due to the travel time and the bus schedule, there is a limited time available to see everything at the zoo; each teacher will have a sign out sheet available if you choose to stay longer and spend additional time at the zoo that day. Please let me know if you have any questions.
HOMEWORK
If you still have February's Monthly homework assignment, please have your child return it to school as soon as possible. I have only received a few back as of yet. It is very important to me to show your child that all work, including homework assignments, are important to his/her learning. This will help your child in years to come when the work load increases. Thank you for your continued support. Have a terrific weekend.
