Our next three weeks will be filled with excitement and anticipation!! We will try our best to stay "focused" on our studies. :)
*Our Literacy activities will continue to focus on letters, their sounds and the sight words. We will use a Smartboard activity that will allow us to spell our sight words using "magnet letters"--it will be great practice and the children will really enjoy it! We will also continue to work with word families--building new words by changing the beginning letter.
*Our Math instruction will find us working with the coins and their values as well as using them for "fair trades". We will work with the shapes and use our Smartboard to help us with the tricky cube and sphere!
*In Science, we will explore the concept of "Gravity"--what it is and how it impacts our daily activities. Our Social Studies focus will be on the Bald Eagle and its importance as one of our National Symbols.
*We have a couple of events that will be taking place during December. On December 16, our Kindergarten children will take to the stage for our Holiday Program. Please clear your calendars and join us for this extra special day! Our class Holiday Party will take place on Monday, December 19 at 8:00 a.m. More information will be coming soon!
*We have had great participation in Book-It for November! It's not too late to turn in your November reading slip. Let's try to have 100% participation for December! Happy Reading! :)
*We will continue to play outside on bright, sunny days. Please continue to send a warm jacket with your child on a daily basis as our weather continues to be rather unpredictable!
*Our front office has asked us to remind everyone to check lost and found. There are many items and they will eventually be donated.
*Please remember to send in your December snack donation~~and thanks to those of you who have already done so! :)
*Rachel's Challenge/Save It Forward Food Drive~~So far we have had a wonderful response to our food collection for needy families here in Cobb County. We will continue to collect boxed and canned food until the 100th day of school (January 27), so please keep those donations coming! For each donation a student brings in, they receive a link to add to our Rachel's Challenge Chain for their act of kindness. Thank-you for your generosity!
*Our homework for December will look a little different than usual. Your child will be completing a "Family Holiday Customs" book to share with our class. You will have two weeks to work on it with the due date being Monday, December 19. The book and information will be coming home on Monday, December 5.
*Thank-you to everyone for all you are doing to support your child's year in Kindergarten. We are making good progress and continue to see "small successes" every day!!
