Hi everyone! Just a few things as we move into November...
*What a successful Conference Week we had!! Many thanks to all of you for attending your child's conference. I truly enjoyed meeting and talking with all of you. I am looking forward to continuing our progress throughout the months ahead. Thanks again for coming!
*Our Literacy instruction will continue to focus on beginning sounds and using those sounds to make words. We will continue to work on those sight words...remember, we need to know 20 by the end of this nine weeks! We will also continue our work with rhyming words, sequencing pictures and following oral directions. Our Math skills will continue to focus on working with sets of numbers 0-10. We will also begin to work with the dime and quarter--name and value.
*As we discussed at Conference, this week your child will be bringing home his/her first "Take Home Book". Please read and keep the letter that is enclosed in the bag with the book. It includes many ways that you may use the book at home with your child. A secondary goal of this activity is to begin to teach the children more responsibility. Books are due back every Friday and your child will be given a new book the following Monday. Enjoy!
*The children are enjoying our "sing-a-longs" with the other Kindergarten classes. We meet every other Friday for singing and movement that focuses on motor skills as well as reinforcing Kindergarten reading and math skills. It is great fun!!
*Please remember to return your October reading slip for our Book-It program. Enjoy that pizza and keep on reading!
The next three items come from our administration ~
*We are out of hand soap! Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
*Fire Lane--The Cobb County Fire Marshalls have begun writing fire lane parking violations in school parking lots. A number of people have already received citations. They were at Frey this last week and will be back to continue checking the fire lane as well as the Handicapped parking spots. The Fire Marshall will continue writing these citations throughout the county this school year. Please remember that if you park in the fire lane (the curb that is painted red), you risk being ticketed.
*Help Start a Chain Reaction: Rachel's challenge has kicked off to a great start! Frey is now starting our "Chain of Kindness". We are asking students, teachers/staff, parents, and visitors to participate by writing on a strip of paper an act of kindness you personally experience while on campus. We will add this link to our "Chain of Kindness". Please just ask the front office or your teacher for a strip of paper anytime.
"You may just start a chain reaction!"--Rachel Scott
*Our Thanksgiving Feast will be Tuesday, November 15 from 11:10-11:40. On Wednesday, November 16, we will be dining in our classroom. Please do not plan on a lunchtime visit that day as our lunch and class routines will be adjusted!
*Our Fall Celebration will take place tomorrow, October 31. Our room moms have been busy organizing our activities and it promises to be a very exciting time!
*Have a fun, SAFE Halloween!! :)
