8-26 Homework and Stuff

HOMEWORK:

A spelling homework packet will be coming home Friday  8/26.  It is not due until next Friday.

I am going to wait one more week before I begin sending home Reading Packets.  I will be going over the UNRAVEL reading strategy with them next week in guided reading groups so that they can apply it to their reading homework when given. So next week's homework will be just like they've had this week. Math will come home Mon. - Thurs. and the spelling is due by Friday. 

READING: We will begin checking out books this Friday.  My goal is to increase your child's reading comprehension so I will require them to check out a book on their level.  I gave a STAR reading test to determine this.  Please help them to put reading into their nightly routine.  Even 15 a night makes a difference. :0) They will be using these books during guided reading as well so make sure it STAYS in their backpack.

Please remember to sign the agenda each night. Draw an apple by your signature for your child to get an extra ticket. 

Homework & Other Stuff

Your child's first homework packet was sent home Friday in their binders.  I am only sending home Spelling in this packet this time because I want to model the Reading Homework with them this week.  The spelling is due Friday, the 26th.  There will be a spelling test on Friday over ALL the words.  They also wrote these words in their agendas.

Math homework will begin Monday and will be sent home each night Monday-Thursday.  Math homework is due the NEXT DAY.  We will go over the homework together in class.

Please begin signing the agenda each night to show that you looked at it.  Please put a triangle around your signature and I will give your child a bonus ticket. :0)

Open House

Don't forget that Open House is this Thursday at 6:00.  There will be two sessions for those who have more than one child. I will give an overview of my classroom routine, expectations, and grade level curriculum. Make sure you attend the General PTSA Meeting before going to the classroom to hear the exciting things that is going on at Frey this year.

Open House generates lots of questions for the teacher. I will try my best to answer all of them. If the session time is over, please feel free to write your question down and I can get back with you. Because of limited time,  I cannot not use this time to conference with individual parents.  Contact me if you feel you need more time to talk. :)

First Day....

Wow...what a great Sneak -a- Peek!  It was great to see all the smiling faces.  Everyone was given an information folder filled with information and forms.  All of these are very important to return the first day of school.  I will be compiling an email list as well to keep you informed as to when my blog is updated along with other information. Please feel free to send me more than one email to contact you.

As school gets started, please remember that it takes many weeks to get into a routine and for me to get to know each child's strenghths and weaknesses.  I will be giving assessments to determine where your child is at in reading, writing, and math.  Homework will not begin until the 2nd week of school.

I can't wait to see my new "Rountree Family" August 15th! Feel free to send your child with a water bottle and snack each day. :)
