At home strategies that can lead to Success in School
Ticket Please -Try limiting your child's TV and video game time. You can try this idea. Every week give your child seven slips of paper. Each slip is good for an hour of television and/or video games., Remind your child to plan ahead. For example if your child wants to watch a two hour movie on Saturday, then an extra ticket will need to be saved during the week.
Mix it up-If your child reviews information several ways, then they will be more likely to remember the information. Fox example try passing a ball back and forth between you and your child while spelling your child's spelling words. Not only will your child learn information in a new way, you can get a little exercise as well.
After School Chats "What's in your backpack" Greet your child with this question, and you'll discover a lot about what he/she does in class.
- Set aside time each day to go through your child's papers.
- Look over your child's work together. Make specific comments that will make your child feel proud. This will encourage your child to do their best in school.
- Have your child talk through math problems or science experiments to show what they have learned. This is a great way to have your child review the information taught that day.
