So we come to the end of the fifth week of school. Wow… can you believe it? So we have covered three full concepts in math, learned about our rights, responsibilities and the reasons why our country suffered a civil war, dove into what makes narrative writing come alive, entered the word of Stanley Yelnats at Camp Green Lake and dissected sentences just to name a few things. It is now time for progress reports. Please know that your child has 4 weeks remaining to maintain or better their grade. Extra credit opportunities are spread throughout each quarter and of course 100% effort is recommended for the best grade possible. Progress reports should be discussed, signed and returned noting the strategies given – if appropriate.
Just in these short five weeks, I have learned a ton about your children and these students as a grade level. Collectively, we have worked very hard on following oral/ written directions and really putting a connection between our thoughts and our pencils. I have seen major improvements already, and can’t wait to see what these students have yet to achieve.
Please know that I am working VERY hard this year on recreating assessments that align more with our Cobb and Georgia State curriculum. By this, I mean that I am picking and choosing certain questions and lessons from the district provided textbook so that when the students take as assessment or even complete an assignment, it perfectly aligns.
Hopefully you will also start to see your new fifth grader getting into “the swing of things” as time goes on. Procedures and schedules should be coming more regular as with the rigorous expectations and curriculum. Thank you for all of your support thus far. I can make every promise to you that your child is receiving the best education possible. This is my passion and I hope my love for learning, education, respect for others and love for life on general will be instilled in my students as they spend this year on our class.
