Kindergarten Information
*Absent Notes
*Birthdays
JDuring the school year, your child may want to celebrate their birthday with his/her classmates. Birthdays are so special for young children! We welcome the opportunity to share this event, but
*Book Bags & Daily Folders
A book bag is needed for each student in order for him/her to transport their daily folder, library books, jackets and a towel for rest. If at all possible, please choose a backpack without wheels. We have found that the little ones have difficulty maneuvering these types of backpacks.
Please place an emergency change of clothes in a large baggy in your child’s book bag. It will be kept in their book bag unless needed.
To ensure communication, we use daily folders. Each morning our routine is to have the children unpack their book bags and turn in their daily folder. We check these folders for notes, money and transportation changes. We do not check book bags. In return, to keep you updated, we have the children place their school papers, school notes/news in these folders. We ask that you please check their book bags daily.
*Frey's After School Program
A yearly registration fee of $10.00 per child will be required. This payment may be prepaid or you may pay it on the first day your child stays in the program. The daily fee is $7.00. Payment for the After School Program must be in an ASP envelope. At the end of each month you will receive a receipt for your records. If your child’s transportation schedule changes weekly, I ask that you send me a weekly schedule. Circling the days on the ASP envelope is not enough documentation for us. I must have a WRITTEN schedule.
*Kindergarten Report, Student Assessment, and Conferences
Another means of assessment that Kindergarten uses is G-KIDS (Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills). This assessment program was created to correlate with our Georgia State Standards. Evaluation is completed throughout our year. Assessments are completed through whole group observation, small group activities or one on one paper-pencil activities. If there are ever any areas of concern, I will contact you immediately.
The County has changed their schedule of conference week. Parent teacher conferences will be scheduled for January. Please know that I am always available to meet with you and if I have an area of concern, I will contact you.
*Lunch ( 10:54 - 11:24)
A cafeteria lunch is available each day for your child to purchase. The price of a meal, which includes a drink, is $1.60. If your child brings a lunch from home, they have the option of purchasing a drink for $0.50. We encourage you to prepay weekly or monthly for lunches. $8.00 per week, $32.00 per four weeks. Send your lunch payment in an envelope labeled lunch payment. Also, include your child's name and my name on the envelope. Please place this envelope in their daily folder.
**Extras!!! Many of you have signed permission for your child to have extras. Please review with your child if they may have extras any day or only on a given day. We have had some confusion with some children thinking they can have extras any day and the permission form states only on a given day.
If at the end of the year, your child has money left on their lunch account, this money will be refunded to you.
You are always welcome to come join us for lunch! Just meet us by the cafeteria.
*Medication
If there is a need for your child to take medication during the school day, there are a few procedures to follow. Parents must bring the medicine to school. The medicine must be kept in the original bottle/container. In order for us to dispense this medication, we need you to complete a permission form. Medications can not be kept in our classroom. Please write a note to let me know of the time that your child is to receive their medication so I can make sure they get to the clinic. If the medication is to go home each day, please let me know. Over-the-counter medications may be given for up to 10 consecutive days with parental written permission. A doctor’s note is required for over-the-counter medication that is given for more than 10 consecutive days.
*Money
When sending money to school, it is very important to place money in an envelope and label the envelope with the following information: what the money is to be used toward, your child's name and my name. If your child brings me cash without the above information, I will have to send it back to you. Due to separate accounts, separate checks are required for ASP, the cafeteria and field-trips.
*Parent Volunteers
We have a variety of ways you can give of your time. Field trips, Dec. holiday party, field day, and media center helper. When we begin to schedule these activities I will be in touch with you.
*Rest
Rest is a 15 – 20 minute part of our daily routine. Please send in a towel for your child to rest on. (Due to storage, we do not use mats.) Towels will go home on Fridays and to be returned on Mondays.
*Schedule Information
School begins at 7:50A.M.
Lunch: 10:54 – 11:24
"Specials"
On P.E. days, please have your child wear tennis shoes, no flip flops please. And, it is best if the little girls wear shorts or pants for P.E. If the girls want to wear other shoes and change to tennis shoes before “Specials” that’s fine. I need for you to please remind your child, due to transition times, it’s important for them to place tennis shoes in their cubbies and not leave them in their back packs.

*Snack
Snacks are done on an individual basis. I always have extra snack if your child once in a while does not have snack.
*Transportation
Thank-you for completing a transportation schedule during Sneak- a-Peek. If there is a change in this schedule, I MUST have a written note informing me of the change. This is for the safety of your child. Please note, I cannot make a change by a verbal statement from your child or from their siblings. I must have written information from you!
