Happy Sunday Kindergarten Families!

I just wanted to thank all of you for your time and support last week during confernces.  I enjoyed sharing all our kindergarten successes with each you!  We all make a great kindergarten team!!!

Tomorrow will be Frey’s United Way Slipper Day!!!!  For a dollar donation, your child may wear their slippers throughout our day.  PLEASE send in flip flops, Crocs or tennis shoes for PE and restroom times.

Also, just wanted to wish you and your family a safe and fun Trick or Treat Night!

 Let’s remember to keep our snacks healthy…it does make a difference when the sugar is limited.  We can’t have candy for snack and let’s watch the sugar for lunch treats also.  Thank you so… very much!

Help us highlight the importance of being healthy and saying no to drugs by having your child wear …

Monday - I am a Jean'ius because
I am drug free (wear jeans and red top)

Tuesday - Be all you can be, stay drug free (wear army attire/camouflage clothes)

Wednesday -Sock it to drugs - (wear mismatched socks)

Thursday - Put a cap on drugs (wear a cap/hat to school)

Friday - Stay in the game, be drug free (wear a team jersey)

* Our lunch time will change for this early dismissal week …10:04 – 10:34. 

* We will continue to have our morning snack routine as the children are truly hungry by 9:00

* I would like to thank you in advance for your time and patience with the conference schedule! This is an important time for each family and twenty minutes goes by quickly.  At times conferences do get off schedule.  I want to spend quality time with each family so if there becomes a problem, let me know and we will reschedule.  

Reminders

Just a reminder, tomorrow is Parent Night at Frey!  The topic is Rachel’s Challenge.  Due to the content not being appropriate for children we will have a movie room available for those of you that need to bring your children.  This truly is a heart touching and meaningful program!  If you have the time, I encourage you to attend.

Literacy

Sight Words:  the, see, to, a, I, is like, play, my, me, and, are  

Letter Ff  

Modeled writing lesson:  Creating simple sentences / simple stories using our sight words and developmental spelling.

Big Book Reading: Mrs. Wishy Washy’s Tub

Big Book Lesson:  Understanding story elements (characters, setting, problem/resolution), locating a letter, word, & sentence, retelling a story in sequence, and fiction vs nonfiction stories.

Rhyming Words:  -at, -an, -in

Digraphs and Blends: -sh, -ch, -th and -ing

Independent Activities:  The children are creating individual apple themed books that consist of apple themed vocabulary words, apple sentences and apple poems.

Reading Groups:  Our reading groups are using leveled readers to teach decoding skills and comprehension understanding.

Math

Shapes:  2D and 3D shapes.  Learning characteristics about each shape, and how to combine shapes to make new shapes

Read It, Draw It, and Solve It/Problem Solving:  Smartboard

Number Line: Practicing counting-on and how to represent numbers 0-5 (simple addition 0-5)

Ordinal numbers 1^st – 10^th

Coin Recognition and Value Recognition: Penny, Nickel and fair trade pennies for nickel.

10 Minute Math Drill: Numeral Formation and Sets to 10
