What We are Learning:
Math - We will review the concept that when decimal fractions are added or subtracted the same rules of computation apply as for whole numbers. We will begin exploring fractions, reading/writing/equivalent.
English - We will review adjectives and add to student's knowledge by introducing comparative and superlative forms.
Spelling - We will be covering Sort 25 on words spelled with silent t, g, w, k, h and gh. Test on Friday.
Reading - We are reading informational texts on the Colonial Period. We will read and comprehend in order to develop understanding and expertise and produces evidence of reading that:
Social Studies - We begin a unit on the Colonial Period. During this unit we will concentrate on map skills such as how to locate the thirteen colonies on a map, along with major man made features such as New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and the Erie Canal. The students will receive a map review sheet on Weds. 1/11 for a test on Thurs. 1/19. We will also develop an understanding of how physical characteristics of an area can help to determine its economic activities
