Frey Cook Out Lunch Schedule

If you are unsure of your child's lunch time next week for the Frey Cook Out, please download the schedule below. It will be out on the field picnic style. We can't wait to see you there.

Field Day & Cook Out Date Change

Please make a note that Frey's Field Day/Cook Out days have been changed.

Grades 3-5 will be Thursday, May 16th

Grades K-2 Will be Friday, May 17th

**Please make this change on your calendars. Lunch schedules will come home soon for your child's cook out time.

 

CRCT REMINDERS

* Next week is CRCT for students in grades 3-5.

* Students must be here by 7:50 to test.

* Tardy students (even 7:55) will have to sit in the media center during testing and do make-ups in the afternoon. They will not be allowed to enter the classroom after the bell rings.

* Please make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast each morning and gets plenty of sleep.

* If your child is sick and misses a day of testing they will be required to make it up.

* Students will take the tests in the following order: Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies

*Retakes for any students that do not pass a critical area will begin Monday of the last week of school.

We wish all of our students the best next week! We can't wait to see you "show off" what you know.

 

Registration forms for next school year were sent home on Friday. Please make sure to return those by Friday, March 22nd. We would also like to to place 2 stamps on the envelope and return. These envelopes will be used to mail the last report card and other important information.

Kindergarten Registration will be next Wednesday, March 27th.

There are few words that can describe the feeling we had yesterday while standing outside watching our children come together as a group to meet a common goal – and even more, to see the support of so many parents there to cheer on our children as they tackled the Boosterthon Fun Run track!   We were truly in awe!  Once again, our Frey Family has risen to the occasion!  We’ve come together, to support not only our children and our school, but also our commitment to our children’s education and academic future.

The Frey Foundation is proud to say that we have met our pledge goal, and regardless of the budget cuts that may continue to happen between now and next fall in the Cobb County School District, if we collect the pledges our children have recorded, WE WILL HAVE TECHNOLOGY CLASS here at Frey!!

 With that being said, the next week is crucial to our continued success.  Today, each child will receive a Boosterthon collection envelope for collecting their pledges. Please help your child to contact their sponsors so that they can return their pledge money next Thursday, March 21^st.  (All checks should be made payable to The Frey Foundation  Or, if you would like to pay for your pledge online you can do so.  As always, you can still send in a check or cash via the Boosterthon envelope. Remember all contributions are 100% tax deductible!  Please send in money as it is collected, you do not need to wait until you have collected all donations.  Your child’s teacher will get 10% of all money collected by first count day-Thursday, March 21^st.  This money goes right back into your child’s classroom!

 We couldn’t have done this without your commitment. Your support of the Boosterthon Fun Run means that the Foundation can continue to do the job that they set forth to do… to support the education needs and enrichment of the children at Frey Elementary.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT CRCT

March 11, 2013

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your continued support for your child’s education in the Cobb County School District.  We wanted to update you with some additional information concerning the CRCT that will be administered this year in April.  Due to implementation of the Common Core Curriculum in Reading, Language Arts, and Math, new test items are being added to the CRCT to align with this implementation.   Because the test will be changed from previous years, the new CRCT will undergo a standardization process that could change the minimum score required for proficiency.  Currently students meet expectations on the CRCT with a minimum score of 800.  This number could change up or down due to this standardization process.  In addition, due to the increased rigor of this test, the state predicts that student scores will decline on this first administration of the test. 

As your child’s teacher(s) continue to implement the Common Core Curriculum in Reading, Language Arts, and Math, you should be noticing increased rigor in your child’s instruction and materials.  Future assessments are being developed to include Performance Tasks requiring writing products as well as an online assessment.   It is an exciting time in education with increased accountability as well as opportunities for students to learn in new and challenging ways. 

We are excited about the instruction we are able to provide in Cobb County Schools.   Your ongoing support for your child is imperative as we continue to meet the challenges of a new and rigorous curriculum.

The Boosterthon Fun Run kicked off today with a thrilling pep rally and I am super excited about this year’s program. The Boosterthon Fun Run program involves all students in a fun, team building, fitness event while helping our school raise much-needed funds.  The central focus of this year’s character program is CHOICES. On the road of life, there are a lot of choices to make. This year’s character theme is HIGHWAY USA and the Booster Team will take students on a fun-filled journey teaching them the importance of making the choices that count.  

Through the Boosterthon, each teacher will receive 10% of what their class raises to help go towards supplies for their classroom.  On top of that, our entire school is raising support to go toward funding our technology teacher and technology enhancements for our teachers at our school.   

Here’s how you can help:

1.     LOG-ON to your student’s website at www.FunRun.com using your student’s Pledge Book and access code.  Log on each night to watch the Highway USA music videos, and enter pledge information.

1.     GET PLEDGES by connecting your student with 10 sponsors. This year there’s an ONLINE PLEDGE PAY system. Be sure to capture and record the e-mail address of each sponsor, as they will have an easy opportunity to pay for your student’s pledge by credit card online.

2.     COME TO THE BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN NEXT WEEK! Remember, students will be running 25-35 laps and we would love to have lots of support for our team!

Parents...We NEED you!! Don't forget that our Frey Technology Night is coming up next week, February 28th. A form was sent home with information last week. This is a night where we get to show you how Technology is integrated into the curriculum. You will have the opportunity to visit three classrooms of your choice as well as watch a SPLOST video to inform you. Please let your child's teacher know if you are attending. Some of our Frey Students will also take part in helping the teachers showcase our technology. Don't miss out on all the fun.
